Duties and responsibilities: In carrying out the responsibilities for the position, the consultant will:
1- Advise the Information Technology Services (ITS) organization in support of the institution’s comprehensive academic mission and goals.
2- Ensure that technology implementation occurs in an integrated manner and for the benefit of both academic and administrative purposes.
3- Develop, assess and maintain a comprehensive Strategic IT Plan for the University in collaboration with other IT stakeholders.
4- Develop policies, standards and best practices for IT that will enable the appropriate, efficient, and secure use of University technology.
Competencies: 1- Consulting experience
2- Executive-level experience directing and managing the activities of a large IT organization preferably within a higher education environment
3- Fifteen years experience in information technology, with at least ten years at a management level; exceptional strategic planning, technical project management, and process transformation experience
4- Knowledge of information resource standards and practices and current computing and telecommunications technologies
5- Successful implementation of major IT or Information Resource initiatives
6- Ability to successfully develop operating and capital budgets and implement short- and long-range financial plans for information technology
Qualifications:
1- Strong combination of skills in strategic planning, communications and coordination
2- Collaborative skills to work effectively with faculty, staff and senior administrators to develop and implement appropriate use of technology resources
3- Ability to understand complex challenges and lead teams to deploy appropriate solutions,
4- Knowledge of the roles of IT in supporting the university’s mission of teaching, learning and public service; knowledge of IT security, policy development and regulatory/legal issues
5- Current knowledge of enterprise-level information systems and technologies. Broad base technical knowledge in IT, library systems and emerging technology trends
6- Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with diverse stakeholders in a multicultural and multi-campus environment
7- Demonstrate servant leadership qualities
