Legal Manager - UDC Qatar

Job Purpose
To provide the required legal guidance and advice to the CEO and MD of UDC about the activities and practices of the business, in order to minimize the risks to the company of infringement of corporate, competition, securities and other legislation in Qatar and the region.
Main activities
- Provide critical analysis to the decision making process and strong leadership as a member of the executive team, particularly with regard to the provision of practical, relevant, accurate, timely and proactive legal and compliance counsel and guidance that ensures maximum protection of the company’s legal rights and maintenance of its operations within the limits prescribed by law.
- Provide advice to senior management for strategic planning purposes, participate in the strategic planning process, play an active role in strategic decision-making, and maintain current knowledge and understanding of the company’s business strategy.
- Remain informed of legal, regulatory, and other developments within Government and the industry, analyze and anticipate the associated impact on the company’s business and strategy, and provide advance notice and creative, proactive counsel on approaches to address material issues.
- Advise on legal issues involving government and regulatory compliance, respond to all complaints made against the company where the matter involves a regulatory agency, and provide advice for and participate in negotiations with government officials regarding such issues.
- Identify, define, justify, source and train required legal resources, considering internal and external sources, and lead and manage the legal team. Assure that legal services are cost effective, efficient and productive.
- Audit the legal policies and practices of UDC project companies and ensure that company objectives and standards are met.
Job Requirments
- To organize and manage relationships with external legal services providers as required for the high standard of advice and guidance necessary for the company’s business.
- Minimum fifteen years experience with corporate law and a minimum of 5 years senior management experience
- Business qualifications or post-graduate legal qualifications desirable
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Excellent skills with computer productivity tools.
- Fluency in the Arabic and English languages
