Teaching Assistant (Qatar University)

Position Summary
Involved in the design, implementation and evaluation of study plan and also participates in developing, coordinating, teaching, support and evaluating courses within the BSc and PharmD curriculum in accordance with the academic bylaws, academic policies and procedures outlined in the QU Faculty Handbook (Section 3.3 Supporting Academic Staff/Teaching Assistant) and the QU Management Handbook (Chapter 12 Guidelines for QU Supporting Academic Staff).

Duties and responsibilities:
• Maintains the standards of the University by following all relevant policies and procedures governing the delivery of a study plan;
• Works as a member of the college’s academic team to prepare our students to provide optimal pharmaceutical care and advance health care outcomes, to promote research and scholarly activity, and to serve as a pharmacy resource for Qatar, the Middle East and the world;
• Participates in the development, coordination, teaching, support and evaluation of assigned courses under the direct supervision of assigned faculty member(s);
• Provides course management support to assigned faculty members as required for the effective delivery of the pharmacy curriculum;
• Provides support to the student as required in the classroom, laboratory, tutorial or associated environments;
• Participates in course-related committees meetings, committees and related activities;
• Represents the college in campus-based activities and events where appropriate;
• Other duties as assigned.

Competencies: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Able to provide innovative and dynamic teaching in a small class learning environment
Possesses advanced clinical training and experience where relevant

Qualifications: Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher) in a health science and have demonstrated excellent potential in the relevant area of specialization. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to coordinate courses and participate in the training and supervision of our students under the direct supervision of faculty member(s), in accordance with our academic bylaws. Excellence in teaching is essential. Experience with course management software is advantageous. A desire to join a collaborative team devoted to the creation of an academic program of high standards is mandatory.
